The requirements of the video I created For my WGU Graduate CourseTECHNOLOGY FOUNDATIONS, TOOLS, & INTEGRATION
Competency 507.2.3 Integrated Technology Development The graduate produces exportable instructional and professional products using various integrated application programs. Write an essay on the process you followed to create your project by doing the following: 1. Describe the purpose for your original multimedia or hypermedia product. a. Include instructional objectives if the product is to be used as part of an instructional unit. 2. Describe your audience for the multimedia or hypermedia product, including age, educational level, content area, and other pertinent information. 3. Identify the software you have chosen to create the product. a. Include a rationale for your choice of software. 4. Discuss the process that you followed to create your multimedia or hypermedia product so that someone else could follow your steps to create similar products. a. Discuss the product’s conceptual framework process by doing the following: 1. Create a conceptual framework (concept map) that helped you in the design and development process (e.g., storyboard, flowchart, diagram, narrative). Name of project. Name of program. Reason for the video. What the video will illustrate and why. Show transferable careers related to CNC technology Show the machine in action. Show students operating machine Show students weeding the vinyl decal. 2. Discuss how your conceptual framework helped you in your design and development process. |

Describe the purpose
The video I created for the Sprague High School Emotional Growth Center (EGC) highlights the programs student run business (Olympic Designs) that creates signs, banners, decals and posters for the local school community. The main purpose of the video was to further explain what the EGC student run business, Olympic Designs was, how it incorporates both functional and academic skills and how this project propels students beyond the classroom by preparing them with transferable work experience that they may use in obtaining a job someday. Include instructional objectives Students will, after specialized instruction and practice, be able to independently find a logo on the internet, incorporate elements of editing and design by using the programs design software, use the cutter machine to cut out their design and prepare a finished vinyl decal project. Describe your audience The identified audience includes administrators, teachers, parents and students who have been introduced to products created on the 28” vinyl sign cutter machine. Students may include those between the ages of 14-21 years of age who may be served by and individual education program. Parents, teachers and administrators may be from 24-65 years of age and may include a wide variety of education levels including but not limited to those who may have little formal education and may have dropped out to others who have professional degrees in education. Identify the software To create this video I used the Windows Movie Maker program attached to my Toshiba laptop. I also used the video software required to run the video camera attached to my Apple Ipad that I videotaped the decal making process from. For online use I used www.youtube.com to upload my video to so that I could turn the link in on Taskstream.com. Include a rationale I like using the Windows Movie Maker software because I am familiar with it from previous projects I created while completing my Bachelor’s Degree Program at Western Governors University. Windows Movie Maker is user friendly, it is easy to insert videos into your project and it includes a slide and caption feature that allows a smooth interface when fading in and out of different video sections. Discuss the process When creating my video I began with creating a title slide and an additional slide I used to name my project. Additionally, I used a slide that informed the viewer of its use as part of graduate degree program. I included an instrumental music piece that accompanies the video called “Work Hard, Play Hard.” by Wiz Khalifa. I thought that music piece may be appropriate to my students because it incorporates a chorus with the words “Work Hard, Play Hard” repeated over and over. My students are often in trouble because they have a hard time regulating their free time and completing their homework so it subliminally sends out that message to the students. Adults that hear the song might not automatically recognize this song but it may appeal to both because it is an instrumental that does not include lyrics that some parents might find offensive. I included photos and videos of my sign machine cutting out designs and I used the video insert feature and music mix capabilities that are included in the Windows Movie Maker program. I also incorporated an additional video segment of a young man using CNC technology to creating items that may later be used in heavy equipment maintenance. I incorporated school logos in the beginning and the end of the video. Discuss the product’s conceptual framework Name of project. Name of program. Reason for the video. What the video will illustrate and why. Show transferable careers related to CNC technology Show the machine in action. Show students operating machine Show students weeding the vinyl decal. Discuss how your conceptual framework helped you in your design By identifying the conceptual framework I was able to purposefully video tape clips that would fit for the demonstration. I was able to direct what items needed to be worked on and follow through the process from start to finish. |
